This course leads to the Basic Emergency First Aid Responder Skills Programme aligned to QCTO Curriculum Code 900232-000-00-00 and registered under Skills Programme SP-230801. It is designed to equip learners with a general understanding of the key concepts and principles that underpin the tasks performed by a basic emergency first aider. The course covers fundamental principles of first aid, assessing and managing common injuries and medical emergencies, prioritising patient safety, applying appropriate techniques for resuscitation and wound care, and effectively communicating with emergency medical services. The learning is delivered in a blended training mode combining online and face to face instruction.
This session covers the purpose of basic emergency first aid, the ABCs of emergency first aid, the role of a First Aid Provider, legal and ethical principles, and maintaining personal health and safety as a first aider.
This session covers scene safety, initial and ongoing assessment of the affected person, communication guidelines, determining appropriate action, reassessment, handover to emergency services, record keeping and post scene cleanup.
This session provides an overview of the essential components of human anatomy and physiology relevant to emergency first aid including body systems and their functions.
This session covers recognising and responding to a wide range of injuries and medical emergencies including bleeding, choking, cardiac arrest, fractures, burns, shock and other common conditions requiring basic first aid treatment.
Welcome to the Basic Emergency First Aid Responder course. This course is open to all learners with no minimum entry requirements. Please complete all 4 sessions in order before attempting the final assessment. This course includes both online learning and face to face practical components.
